The candidate should be PhD or Masters in Computational Chemistry / Chemoinformatics / Biochemistry, with an extensive knowledge in chemistry. A good understanding of protein-ligand interactions and chemical structures will be essential, as will experience of relevant software on a Linux platform. It is preferable that the candidate possess one or two years of academic or industrial pharmaceutical experience. The incumbent will need to have demonstrable expertise and working experience in computational chemistry & chemoinformatics research and its applications in drug discovery and will supply the latest computational techniques to design pharmacophores leading to the discovery of new drugs / medicines. Reference Code: (AGT_AGP_005) | Head - BioinformaticsCategory: Biotechnology The successful candidate will be responsible for and carry out genomic annotation, orthology detection, functional prediction methods and sequence comparison / clustering. Applicants should be PhD / ME or equivalent in Computer Science (with Bioinformatics background) or Bioinformatics, with a sound knowledge of Perl / JAVA programming skills and hands-on experience with BioPerl and/or GMOD/Chado based applications such as Gbrowse. This role includes collaboration and communication with teams developing software to exploit the data and those using the data under varying experimental regimes. A particular goal will be to push the performance of all aspects of the systems beyond the vendors specifications where possible. Development and extension of algorithmic and data processing methods to extract maximum value from genotype technology is very critical and these methods are to the embodied in prototype software that can be shred with other development and production teams as part of their efforts. Extensive knowledge of cell culture techniques and aseptic technique is preferred for The Avestagenome Project.
